Factory Tire Option?

Factory Tire Option?
I have just bought a '98 4Runner SR5, V-6, 5-speed, with E-Locker. Tire size is 265/70R16 on the factory aluminum rims but when I went to check the recommended inflation pressures on the lable on the drivers side "B" pillar the only tire size indicated was the 225/75R15. My question is, is this normal? Are my tires original equipment or were they put on at a later date?

Wow that's a good one. If this was in the Truck and SUV forum you'd probably get more answers.
I'll go out on a limb here. Your Runner came from Japan with those tiny tires and the larger ones were installed in the port where it was recieved. (not sure what port Canadian models go to) There are several options that are installed in port like the trailer hitches and perhaps tire/wheel combos.
Welcome aboard new guy.

Welcome to the forum!
May I ask how many miles do you have on that 98 Runner? And if you don't mind, how much did you pay for that rig? I too, would like to buy a 3rd gen Runner with the e-locker.
Thanks and again welcome to the forum!

see the side walls
To find the info for the big tires use the information on the sidewall of the tire itself. My '94 owners manual has an inflation number for the 31/10.5 tires but it seems a little low especially for carrying a load. I would check your manual and see if it is there (read the whole of the last few sections (maintainence and specifications) sizes and presures are mentioned in a few places but only one of them lists the larger size tire. Then I would reference between the the book and the sidewall and decide which way to go. Hope this helps Aviator
