I just bought my truck and its got the 3 inch fabtech suspension lift on it.The thing rides like a tank there is no absorbing at all.Now Im pretty sure my shocks are whats sqeaking and that usaully mean they are about wore out.Could this be the reason it rides so ruff?or does the thing just ride ruff anyways.

 

Tacoma's ride pretty plush from the factory. I would assume your coilovers are jacked up too high. Have any idea of they are the adjustable front coilovers? If so, I'd turn them down a few turns.

Show any pictures of the A-arm angles...or CV angles.... some people tend to adjust them for too much lift and you loose all your downtravel and increased spring rate.

 

They are deff adjusted to high the cv angles are horrible.If I lower them will this mess with my alignment?Because he just paid to have it aligned the day i bought it.Ill take some pics in a second

yes adjust those coilovers down..and ya might wanna get a new set of CV's sometime down the road.

 

Yeah adjusting them down will throw the alignment off a tad. CV angle does look a little steep, and essentially that geometry of jacking the front that much will stiffen the ride a lot.

Most of the coilvers use a "spanner" type wrench. Yours look like the adjusting ring on the bottom use something else, as there are no small holes in which the wrench attaches to. You might try emailing Fabtech or browsing their site for information on how to adjust them.

You also could also just buy newer components like those from Sonoran Steel (just the front) that would give you a better ride with also a few inches of lift. The guy who owns and operates it is a smart guy who's been in the business of these trucks and 4runners for a while and knows what works best.

 

camo yeah the small picture makes it look like all rims lol but its really not that bad.They are wrapped with mud grapplers that are load range e which i think is another reason it rides so ruff.

ill be getting new cvs soon im working on other stuff first.


I read around some and people are saying that the rings strips out extremely easy but i never could figure out what tool they used.

you should look to see if you have a front differential drop kit, Another thing I'm noticing is that the shock bushing is wasted that is definetaly not gonna help with the ride, plus what size are those rims it looks like there is no sidewall on those things which could also give you a issue cause with a low profile tire you have to run a higher tire pressure so there is no flex to the sidewall

 

I couldn't tell if there is a diff drop or not as i don't know what a stock suspension looks like but I don't see any fabtech kits offer a drop so i don't think there is one.The rims are 20s wrapped with 33s i know that has to do with the ride but the suspension doesn't give at all im thinking its cause it is cranked up way to high.I did read that those bushing are crap and needs to be replaced pretty often.I found out i need a spanner tool but they say fabtech will send one for free along with the bushings so im gonna wait and call them first before I go buy some.

What exactly will my tires do if i drop the coilovers some? They will tilt towards the engine wont they?

 

Yea, mess with the ride height any and you'll need an alignment.
Diff drops are worthless, don't waste your money. Just lower the coilover to an acceptable height. And take off the stupid body lift while your at it.
Invest in some smaller rims or maybe bigger tires, which will give you more sidewall, whcih will allow you to run a lower pressure.

 

I would rather leave the bl on and adjust the coil overs down for the better ride.

But while we are talking about the lifts any change I could clear 36 inch tires with the body lift and these coil overs?

Um problably not without some trimming, and $1200-1500 in gears.

 

Please do yourself a favor and sell those rims/tires to some "bro" and get yourself a real set of rims and tires. I imagine you could sell those rims and tires and cover the cost of your new rims and tires

So the reason for the diff drop kit is so you can jack up the ride and still have the driveshafts sit somewhat level, yes with the coilovers being jacked up so high will cause a ride issue but even if you drop it down to where the axles sit somewhat straight your not gonna be able to fit the tires you want, trust me i have a 01 4 runner with a toytec 3" complete suspension kit with front diff drop kit and it is great have not had any issues what so ever with cv shafts taking a crap.
