Extending the panhard bar

Extending the panhard bar
How does one calculate what length bar they need? I have the standard 891 N86 OME in the rear, and want to get a bar to finally match the lift. Should it simply be long enough to reach eye to eye when the truck is sitting at normal load on flat ground? How does one go about figuring this all out.
Was overall hoping to build one up myself, and also get do up some LCA's and UCA's while at it...
And yes I know Steve makes one, but I'd rather do it myself, as I;m curious how all the suspension works and such.
Thanks

I never did anything with my panhard bar on my 97 4runner with a OME lift. I couldn't tell that there were any of the side affects that steve talked about on his site. Although I may have just been lucky, or the affects to slight for me to notice.

This might help.... Steve Shafffer at Sonoran Steel makes a drop bracket and can probably answer some of the questions you are having!

thats what I was thinking.. There are two products currently available either the adjustable panhard bar or the drop bracket that mounts to the current location and used the stock panhard. Toytech carries the drop and I'm sure Steve has the adjustable. I couldn't find it while searching but I'm sure has them.

Thanks for the reply's. But why would someone off an "extended panhard bar", when someone else offers a "drop bracket"
What are the differences?

The extended bar will push the mounting points ouwtard from each other, bringing them back to their original position, making the axle straight under the truck. They also usually have a bend in them to account for the "drop"
