Im looking to get a new exhaust system on my 02 4WD 3.4L Sport Edition. I noticed not many companies make bolt on systems but I found one from TRD. The only thing is that it says "1999-2000 V6 Ca-Spec; all 2001-2002 (dual cat. converter)" and I'm not exactly sure if that applies to my truck. I dont know if I have daul catalytic converters. The part number is PTR06-89990-14. Also, I was wondering if its a better idea to just go to a muffler shop and ask them to make me an exhaust system and if so what do I ask for exactly.

One last question, I just got some 265/75/16R BFG All Terrains put on and I was wondering what PSI you guys would suggest for normal street driving. I have them as 45psi now but noticed the sidewall said something about max load and 65psi.

for the muffler a 18'' magnaflow sounds great not to loud but enough to notice it just have the old muffler cut off and replace it with the magnaflow heres the one u need http://www.hottexhaust.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=11255

 

don't buy that trd system, as i'm sure the one you were looking at was at least $500. just go to your local muffler shop and have them replace your stock one with a new performance one. like stated above, magnaflow gives off a nice sound and the flowmaster 40 series (which is what i have) is a little louder than the magnaflow. but don't buy the system, it costs too much...and just stay around the 35-40 psi range. that 65 psi rating is for heavier trucks, like 3/4 and 1-tons.

 

im running just a 40 series flowmaster and it sounds great...and only cost me like 70 bucks total...

I run 35 psi in my 265/75-16s..

 

I'm looking to increase horsepower, how much will just the flowmaster help out though. Im not so much worried about the sound.

 

try searching 'deckplate' and 'intake silencer removal (ISR)'

 

x2 on this one! when the deckplate, ISR mod, and exhaust are all combined, you should notice a difference in power, as my 4runner has a little better acceleration throughout all rpms now. and best of all, doing the deckplate and ISR mod will only add around $25 bucks on top of whatever you pay for the exhaust, which shouldn't be too much in the first place. just my 2 cents, hope it helps...

65psi is if your carrying a load that is the max load of the tire, your running 8 ply tires thats around 3k per tire and you never come close to needing them. 30-38 is good. on my road trip i ran 45 front and 48 rear for better mpg. but that was 10k miles, only. and if you air down from there it's a PITA to air back up. i run 35psi air down to 18-20, good all around traction, and a 2 minute air up time per tire.

Like all said.. normal driving 32 psi is ok.. if you are loaded to the gills for a trip up I-95 you can go to 65 psi no problem.. higher you go the cooler the tires will run on the highway.. but the 65 psi is for an F-350 with a camper.. (own both and run 285/75-16 A/Ts as winter tires at 65psi)

 

if the tires are saying 65 psi max and you are running 32 you will notice the truck is sluggish on takeoff and the tires roll in the corners. Yeah they give good traction in a straight line but the sidewall roll will make it seem to push in the corner. You will have to expiriment with ride comfort, tire wear, mpg and handling to come up with what is best for your style. I run 35 on my 265/75/16 which have a max of 44. They ride a bit stiff but its the best compromise between MPG and wear. I think you have tires that are more than you need for weight capacity. As far as exhaust you can't go wrong with a flowmaster or magnaflow.
