Is it ok to have the end of the exhaust dump in front of the back tire instead of behind it? If the turndown pipe sticks out a little bit farther than the body it should be fine right?

I just want to know before i cut anything

Not sure, but my dad's old 96' F-150 had the exhaust exiting in front of his rear right tire (from the factory).

 

Ok good enugh for me. I just dont want fumes to be able to gather in the cab and stuff like that. If automakers can do it so can i.

 

I agree, this should be ok. I was going to do the same mod until I ran into the problem of smashing my exhaust pipe while off-roading. There is just no good place to go under the frame without losing some clearance, for me anyway.

 

just make sure the turn down doesnt dump the gas fumes onto the rear axle. i need to get mine re-routed.

 

i was thinking having it point straight out the side, use like a 90* bend.

 

Just remember, the less bends the better.

 

the rule with exhuast according to US DOT mandates are that on a vehicle, the exhuast exit must be behind the passenger cabin, or at or behind the rear axle.... on an suv, where the cabin goes all the way back, the exit has to extend at least to the rear axle or farther back.... on a pickup, it can exit anywhere behind the cab area....

 

Yep the exhuast has to be behind the last operable window for a passanger vechile. Basicly means that is must be behind the the furthest back passanger seat.
