Exhaust for 3.0L?

Hey guys, my pops owns a 93 yota pickup 4x4 3.0 and its got no power and gets really bad fuel millage which sucks for him because its his daily driver. Soo... x-mas is comeing up and i'v been thinking of buying him a new exhaust system for it so he can get some better millage, but i dont know what muffler to go with. He likes the stock one because its quiet, and I plan on keeping it quiet with the new muffler. But i'm not sure on what muffler to go with, i need one quiet but allows for better flow, i was looking at the Flowmaster 70 series or maybe the Flowmaster Hushpower II. Im not sure though. so could you guys get some sound demos of what you have or maybe reccomend some good mufflers that would work well?
Thanks guys,
Nick

Magnaflow seems to be the popular choice as of late...

You can just buy the muffler at a muffler shop and have them run a 2.25" cat back there.

I have the DynoFlow 50, kinda loud especially w/headers and a 2 1/4" exhaust! Get pops a FIPK too, let that 3.0 breathe! I get 21 - 24 MPG's.
When you let the 3.0 breathe she will come to life with more power and better mpg's!
Good Luck!

I am getting ready to fun a Flowmaster 40 with all new piping from the cat back with 2.25" pipe...hoping it will sound good. Right now I'm runnin a Dynamax with stock piping, it sounds pretty loud around 2k RPM but after that it gets drowned out by the louda$$ 3.slow

I noticed a 1mpg increase and more top end power from the FIPK. No off the line change though. Nice sucking/roar when you nail the gas...

Is the Fipk worth the 200 bucks or so?

Yup...If you don't want to spend the money on the FIPK. There is Blu's Silencer removal mod. I did mine with Flex tubing and it works great. Links to both are here:

Then either do the airbox mod if you're not going to be hopping puddles, a snorkel or get an open filter element like a K&N.

Don't pay $200, check the classifieds here. Someone is usually selling a used one for under $100. That's how I got mine. You can download the installation instructions for free from K&N's website.
I noticed less bog between 0-3000rpm and easier shifting. Once you wind it up with the FIPK, you really notice it. It doesn't make it a sports car, but it does make it better.

Have fun!
