everybody wants to swap in a 3.4L, but what about swapping in a Lexus ES/Camry V6 into the 4Runner. Ive got a 1989 V6 5Spd 4WD, and was wondering if anybody has done it, or if they know if its a direct fit. i seems like it should be a direct fitment. just swap out engine harness and ecu's. i quick price analysis seems that it would be quite a bit cheaper and easier to do.

it should be easier to obtain the 3VZFE and i'd imagine it would be cheaper to swap because there would be less parts to convert over. they have about 50hp more and theres a TRD Supercharger availible for it also i believe. (unless its just for the newer V6)

so any info guys?

there's a few threads on it in here. the mounts on the camry block are different and won't work in truck.

however there was a big thread on somebody wanting to run a pickup block(which should interchange) with the camry heads, but i don't know whatever became of it.

The Camry is Front Wheel drive, so it mounts the engine sideways and bolts it to a transaxle, not the most simliar setup to a rwd truck...

even though the 3VZFE is front wheel drive they still have places to mount rwd motor mounts. as on the 3sgte and 4ag from the mr2. Im hoping to swap the camry v6 into my ae86. so hopefully not 2 much fab work. good luck with urs.
