I have a 94 4runner with a V6. I was wondering how much custom work would be involved if I wanted to swap the engine with a 96 or newer V6. I am interested in the engine swap and then adding a TRD supercharger.

As far as I know, the 3.4 will use the existing engine mounts for your 3VZ-E. Seems like somebody here said a while ago that you will need the oil pan from a T100 so as to clear the front diff (is your 4Runner a 4x4?) I heard somewhere that the fuel line from the 3.0 comes in on the opposite side for the 3.4. Shouldn't be that difficult to fix. I believe you may also need a 2 inch body lift for extra engine clearance. That's about all I remember. I'm not a pro at this kinda stuff, but thought I'd just pass along what I think I can remember off the top of my head.

Good find on that write up DH6. With the motor mounts having to be moved and an adapter employed for tranny/transfer marrage its not as simple as I was thinking it was. That write up is for a Tacoma motor. Its somewhat easier if you use a T100 motor.

 

I don't deserve credit for finding that write up. Somebody else here posted it a while ago and I ran a search, found it, and posted it here. No credit to me. I'll take the compliment though.

I wonder if the motor mounts would have to be moved on <i>base554</i> truck? The guy who did the write up was putting in the 3.4 in place of a 22RE. I suppose the 22RE has different mounts then the 3.0 (I think). I had though that the 3.4 bolts to the excisting 3.0 mounts. I dunno--beats me.

I want to do a 22RE to a 2.7l swap in my 954Runner. Aside from, intake, exhaust and fuel I think this swap will be easier that the 22RE to 3.4L, and the 2.7L blown still makes my 22RE look like a Briggs 5horse...

 

Try http://www.offroadsolutions.com./products.htm . They have a kit to do the conversion. I have read that the 3.4 is a direct bolt up to the 3.0, but the exhaust needs to be switched to the other side, a T-100 oil pan used to clear the front diff, and a few other minor things. Off Road Solutions has a picture on there site of a 3.4 in a truck or Runner. The picture is in there "showcase" section.

 

Under their new products under development, they are developing complete engine swap kits for the 3.4 and the 4.7. I really like the idea of a 4.7 in my 2nd Gen!!! If I did that, I'd get buried in it.

 

the ORS engine harnesses are made to order so you can basically swap the 3.4 into a vehicle originally equipped with a 3.0 and plug in the new harness and be good to go.

 

If they can do that with the 3.4, they can probably do the 4.7, right. The mounts and all that mechanical jazz is the easy stuff IMO.

 

i assume so, they are also developing coil sprung SAS kits for tacomas and mini trucks and long travel rear suspensions for 2nd gen 4runners

 

I would love to have a 4.7 in my 2nd gen. Maybe even an S/C for it. That would be such a sleeper!

The 3.4L swap seems more likely for me though...

I so want to be able to just sit there and spin the tires into oblivion....

Does anyone think that the stock 3.4L can take boost and juice? Something small, like a 50-75 shot of nos.....

There's an article about it in an old issue of Sport Truck. They put a bit of nos in a S Runner (has S/C). I forget how much power it maid or what shot of nos it had, but I'll look it up when I get home (at school now).
