try to start with throttle open it will smoke for a few minutes due to the oil in the cylinders.

just whatever you do NEVER USE PENZOIL in the yellow bottle, your motor will look like that but it will be crusty, not gummy

I have seen it that bad, and worse.

Camry engines are notorious for doing this. But really, all it stems from is not changing the oil. People blamed toyota and there was a huge recall, but it was merely because people were too lazy to go to quicky lube and change the stupid oil. At least the truck was only $300! Now you can afford a new engine

oh, and who was right? This guy

This thread has me really wanting to pop a valve cover and see what my runner is like.

I bought mine with 110,000 miles and I think it was female owned in it's prior life.

I've done a AutoRX clean and rinse phase and am doing another clean phase now and the motor has gotten smoother but not drastically so. It's hard to see much looking through the oil fill hole that's for sure.

To the OP. You are still way ahead, get ahead a decent replacement motor and move forward.

No, but I said pop the valve cover, i bet that cam isn't spinning.

One pop of the valve cover revealed the problem
