Engine removal questions
Im removing my 3.0 v6 from my 90 toyota 4x4 now ive heard both ways and i was wondering if you can just unbolt the tranny while its in the truck so you can just pull the engine out?

I pulled just the engine. was a bit of a pain to get the top three bolts for the tranny but once I got the crossover off, it was smooth sailing. I found I could just fit a wrench in fron the top to break the bolt loose and then used a flex socket with a big extension to get them the rest of the way.

i have a 22r, and just did an engine swap.... on mine, you just unbolt the engine from the bellhousing, and it comes out and leaves the tranny...... just make sure you have something under the tranny to catch it....

I just got done pulling and reinstalling my engine as well. I would leave the tranny in the rig. Detach the lower 3-5 bolts from the bellhousing to the engine. You will then be able to remove the lower plate between the engine and tranny. If you have an auto, be sure to disconnet the 6 bolts that hold the flexplate to the torque converter before pulling the engine. Then place a support under the tranny, pull the other bolts and you are good.
