ummm don't snowplow

[QUOTE=20014runner;50845498]You said it, this winter in Chicago was definately one of the heavier snow falls. Oh crap, I didn't want to admit this to you guys...I snow plow with my 4Runner. No, not comercially, just a few of my properties. I have not seen a Toyota in my area with a plow, I get strange looks from Chevy, Ford, Jeep, Gmc and Dodge owners. The common question I get is: " you can put a snowplow on a Toyota?" " haven't seen that before".

Why is that? Is it not durable like an american truck? Yes, I know it's an Suv, but I believe in the 3rd generation 4x4 4Runner. It can haul, carry a 1000 pound load and push snow! If you guys see the pics I have of my 4Runner with a 7 foot plow in front of it fully lifted, it's mind blowing!

Can a Toyota carry a snow plow-obviously yes. Is it the right vehicle to use for a snowplow? probably not

I am reading that the frame is the issue with heavy duty plowing, sorry to hear about your engine. Hope you are using Mobil 1 or equivalent synthetic.

Baby that thing and it will treat you well for 250-300K miles before a rebuild.

My motor is just making power at 3,500. I take it to redline often. With confidence. And the best oil.

I just blew the motor in my 2001 4Runner - Limited. Had 127,000 miles. I have owned it since new and it had regular maintenance at Toyota dealer including oil changes. Just had to replace the nitro brake system. Had it back 3 days and the engine blew a hole in the block. This is my second 4Runner, never any problems. I'm dumbfound that the engine blew at this mileage.
PS: I didn't drive it 100 mile an hour!

Adding gas to the pedal will cause engine failure.

I am betting something initiated the damage and then it was doomed

history of severe backfire
or
a period of small... or single hydrolock event

once bent from one of the above the rod is doomed
