Whats up Ya'll,
Im getting massive clunking under the rig.
Im needing to replace my anti swaybar bushings for the front/rear. Also the steering rack bushing.

Looking for feedback on the Hyper-Flex greasable polyurethane bushings for the anti-sway bars.
If so do you have the part numbers?

Is there a kit the includes all that I need to replace the old bushings?

 

Not sure about the sway bar bushings, but I think we have the same steering rack. (I have a 98 Tacoma).

I replaced my steering rack mount bushings over the weekend. They lasted about 92,000 miles before they got loose on me, so I was pretty happy considering how much abuse I've given the ol' rack. While I had it up off the ground, I checked the play in the rack and the ball joints. Everything is good. (I am still on the original ball joints & tie-rod ends)

Part# 8.10101-G ("G" for black or "R" for red) I bought mine through my local AutoZone store.


Anyway, on the rack bushings... some of you might be familiar with the install - some not. It was a fairly easy job (not as bad as everyone has been saying) and I am happy to say that Energy Suspension now includes the proper diameter metal sleeve for the middle bushing (people were having to drill or hone them out).

The only things I might add to what these folks have detailed, is that...


1. Use some liquid wrench - soak the bolts and nuts before you get started with the wrenches.
2. In addition to a socket with ratchet, you might try an offset box wrench with a hammer to get a couple of the bolts loose.
3. Use a "Super Bar" to manipulate the rack while you work on it. It's perfect for the job.

Thanks for the links to those write-ups. I have the kit for my 4Runner, but haven't got around to installing it yet.

 

I have had experience with Energy Suspension on one of my past vehicles (95 SI), and the kit was awesome. Totally eliminated wheel hop on my launches at the strip, and tightnened everything up all the way around.

I realize you are asking about a totally different vehicle, but I wanted to put my .02 about the quality of the bushings.
