According to www.nada.com, average retail on that truck with those miles is $5100. Add in a little for the extras (rims, tires, lift, header, etc) and take off a bit for PS leak, wheel bearing and CV. $5k sounds pretty reasonable.

But that's reatil price from a dealer, right? Just seemed high compared to the KBB values I've seen on my 94 4runner, that's all.

a truck like that in a dealer's lot around here would be priced at 7-10k. 3rd gen 4x4s in my area are always outrageously priced.

Here too, I looked at one like it with no mods and not in that good of shape last weekend and they wanted $5995.00. IMHO $4000 is not a bad deal for that truck.

i got lucky with mine, straight, no rust(well, a little by where the exhaust pipe comes out, since it had rotted off and blasted the bed with exhaust), in overall great shape for $2750. however i did the timing chain about a week after i bought it, still think i'm under $3000 on this one.

I bought mine for 6k, and I havent had a lot of good fortune with it. For example

1) Rear diff went out. 250 bucks.
2) MAF sensor went out (had high idle, etc)- 90
3) Front diff went out-240
4) Cost to get diff back into truck- about 250-275 (estimated)

Pictures of my truck as it stands right now posted here: http://photobucket.com/albums/a276/p...t=DSCF1299.jpg

So now, all I need is a mechanic to get it fixed for me (I cant do the front diff by myself, and I dont really have the knowledge, etc). Just have to hurry up before my parents get ticked off about me using the van to get around.

I found mine right around the corner from where I work. It needed a new grille and some dash parts, I paid $2375.00.
