Question E-locker complete (entire axle) shipped for $460

Everything I need from a 00 Runner with 60K miles, shipped for $460. Yay or nay?

Should I buy it?

Thanks!

Yes! That is a hell of a deal. I paid $470 for parts for my retrofit and would have preferred to swap in an entire axle rather than modify the housing. Plus you can sell your axle.

Yeah, you can't get any other selectable locker for less than that.

Talking ???

My only concern would be that the axle is warped or bent considering the rig had roof damage it seems like it was a rollover and those have a tendency to mess things up like axles. Even with no guarantees of it not being damaged it seems like a very good deal idealistically w/ shipping. You'll never know til you try but I'd get some kind of assurance the axle isn't bent/warped before I slapped down my hard earned money. Definitely use a credit card so you could at least dispute the transaction should you get duped.

My pennies cause you asked.

I don't think you're going to find a better deal than that. If the axle's warped just do the housing mod on your existing axel housing. You would still be getting a good deal.

I might have to have a wrench-a-thon if I do this. I have never messed with a rear axle before.

I know there is a ton of talent in Phoenix, so I am not too worried. Plus this is not my daily driver...

I'm sure you can handle it with some help. What about the ECU and the wiring harness etc. That would be the part that would scare me, I could handle the mechanical, but the electrical...

Yes that is a very good deal, ASSUMEING it has the same ring and pinion as your current front diff.

E-Locker autos had 4.30's and Manuals has 4.10, but most non-elocker autos had 4.10's.

My e-locker had 4.56's to make it even more confuseing.

Phong's write-up makes the wiring look pretty straight forward.

On another note, the Runner's not your daily driver?!

No, its a hard core trail rig.

just kidding.

My wife and I carpool, so I get to drive the 12-second Accord every day. We save the gas-hog for road trips and camping.

Steve,

Do you know which 4Runner models came with e-lockers and 4.56 gears? Was it only the 4 cylinder engines?

So it sounds like I better get the code off this 4Runner before I jump in to a pool with no water...right?

See what the junk yard wants for the 4.30 front diff. ADD diffs are more of less worhless. While it's out, have someone install a Tru-Trac or an ARB RD-90.

4.30's would be a nice Ring and Pinion to have.
