Ok I need to replace my rear right (passanger side) brake cable as it has broke. I got the part but am not sure what this little piece circled in red is for it will slide the full length of the cable as well as all the way off the cable. I looked on the existing one and did not see anything like it. Could this possibly be a cable that is used for different vehicles like a universal cable, and this piece is just not required for a 4runner install? Any help would be great.

 

Nevermind I found where that part goes and it is needed.
