Question Dual exaust

I just got my 4runner after my tahoe was set on fire, but anyway that's not the point. i want to know what is the best exaust set up for a '97 with the 3.4 v6 auto. I am talking about tube diameter, and what it the best muffler to get? i know i'm going to need a single in dual out muffler. What's your guys opinion? O more thing is how much do you guys think it's going to cost, taken i'm 16 and going to have to save up for a couple of weeks .

Search, search, search, we have hundreds of threads on this, but since you are a noob then I'll cut ya some slack. First of all, is it supercharged or not? From what I've read a 2.25" is the ideal diameter for a non supercharged 3.4L engine. Some here have ran dual exhaust but when I went to have mine looked at the shop owner told me it would be a lot of work routing it around so I am just going to go with a single outlet when I get one.

edit: the guy at the shop quoted me around $350.

if your going to be doing any offroading than duals arent the best wal to go unless you go out the sides. I would say go with dynomax mufflers..they sound good and not too loud at the same time...unless you want that..yea ive got the loudest exhaust in the student parking lot than go with a flowmaster 40 series.

for custom crush bent your looking at $350+ with a muffler.

Gibson or Borla probably make an exhaust for your truck but except to drop $600+ with shipping.

where are you from?

you should avoid getting cars set on fire first off.

I feel duals just plain suck from a performance standpoint.

Dual's post muffler (so, 1-in 2-out like Chris is talking about) aren't too bad, but yeah, pure dualies are a real performance issue. You'd have to keep the pipe size really small.

Chris, if you're gonna run duals post muffler, then keep the pipe size small. 2" for an NA engine, 2.25" for a SC.
