Driveshaft/U-joint info

This Christmas will be the first time in over a year that I'll be able to work on my truck. I need a little info to make sure everything goes smoothly

I've noticed at certain speeds I get a vibration and going from 1st to reverse feels sloppy and makes a noise that resinates through the driveshaft. I figured that since the truck has about 200,000 miles it might be time to do a little driveshaft maintenance. I want to replace the center support, the u-joints, and the joints in the double cardan joint. I've done the center support before so I'm not worried about that. I was wondering about the u-joints and the double cardan. Any tips and anyone know a good place to parts from (part numbers too maybe)?

Thanks.

u-joints for a double cardan

Man, I am havin some serious issues with this same deal. trying to replace all u-joints on my 02 Double cab TRD taco 4x4. cant find the joints to fit the double cardan. some say its replaceable IF you can find the right size U-joints, some say its not replaceable at all. toyota says to by a whole new rear driveshaft. ANY HELP WOULD BE EPIC.

Most double cardans you can replace the u-joints(if you know the right size/part #). 79-95 all use the same size u-joints in the double cardan. I don't know for sure what size they would be for later years. I wouldn't be too surprised to find out that they were the same size for all years though. But there could also be a difference with the lock rings, inside vs.outside(even if they are the same size u-joint as earlier years, you can only use them in a yoke/double cardan made for that type of lock rings).

I went to Napa and they sold me 3 of the same ones. I replaced the rear since it was totally broken and ran out of time on the double cardan so I never got to that job yet. The rear fit just fine, no idea if they fit the front double cardan. Getting the old one out was a real job, took lots of PB Blaster, a torch, and an air hammer before I got it all out!

They might all be the same size for late models. Everything I'm finding so far suggests they are. Instead of being different sized like earlier years were(used to be 2 sizes, the double cardan joint size, and the everywhere else size).
