So Its warm out in chicago, and I decided i need to find somting to fix.

The issue im trying to solve, feels like driveline play. Its noticible in rush hour traffic, thats not quite stop and go, but really slow.

When you coast a bit, then give it really gentle gas, it feels like the car "catches". I did a search, and it doesn't seem to be the slip yoke, though it may be.

Anyone have any ideas? U joints? transmission?

I've been getting the same thing lately as well. For the most part, the truck "catches" when I give it gentle gas after coasting a bit. It's mostly at slow speeds too, or at least that's when I notice it. U-joints looked good a few months ago when I was under it, but haven't looked recently.

Again, any insight/ideas?

Probably so, and i'm sure the s/c doesn't help matters either.

I'm gonna check underneath this weekend anyway and see what I can find.

 

Search "Axel Wrap". My 2000 4wd does the same thing. Looks to be that the slip yoke needs to be lubed with a grease gun.

 

Still having this issue with the exact same problem above. I didn't see anything blatantly apparent when I crawled under. Slip joint is greased, U-joints have some miles, but I'm not getting any high-speed vibration or other symptoms. Not sure what to do at this point.
