I had a WRX on my tail one day when I was driving my 97 S.C. Runner. With the curved road and wet conditions I couldn't shake him, but he could not gain on me either. (and I have oversized tires)

hey for all you supercharged guys, I don't think I've heard the supercharger in action. Does it give off the famous "PSSSSSSSST" that ricers do when they are turbo charged wiith a blowoff valve? I love riding in my frieds eclipse tt when he stomps it, it sounds so nice!

Does anyone know what the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are for a 4x4 truck or 4Runner with a S/C?

I have the motorweek review of the WRX on my hard drive and it ran to 60 in 5.6 seconds and did the quarter mile in 14.3 seconds @ 95 mph.

Was that the WRX STI or was it a regular WRX?

There are no factory STI's imported into the U.S. You can get some of the STI accessories from the dealer like wheels brakes and chips. You cannot, however, get the adjustable center diff like you can get in Japan.

Really? Those all those WRX's that say STI are really fakes? Wow, that is a big surprise because I test drove one that said STI at a Suburu dealership, which means they ar ripping people off. Got to love the American spirit

My friend's WRX has the STI shift knob (which sucks, he and I both hate that thing), but that's it. sti's aren't coming for a while. You can get aftermarket badges for anything these days, so I'm not surprised to see sti stuff on those cars.

You can probably get sti packages without all the cool stuff...

Thats sweet man. I admit, i was about to purchase an Integra GSR and mod it... but I ended up with my Runner instead. I cant complain. Anyways, for now, my Runner is stock. I have only dragged once, and the fastest i have reached was about 97. Earlier in this thread someone said that the top speed is 110 beacuse of fuel cutoff. Is altering this, i.e. getting rid of the cutoff illegal? I think it is, but I am not positive. Also, what would you presume a supercharged 99 runner could reach as a top speed if there was no cut off. I just got working agian, so I hope to be able to purchase and install a supercharger of my own into my 99limited. Ive been waiting 75K miles for it! Peace.

speed governor

about the top speed governor-- first of all its not a fuel cutoff, but a spark cutoff.

removing the governor on a 4wd vehicle may not be the best idea-- i removed mine on my 2x4, but it has 17' rims with racing tires-- if you still want to do this remember that toyota only put a governor on the vehicles because the tires arent rated for that speed and one false move with the steering wheel and your dead. Oh, the top speed on a 5sp manual supercharged v6 truck with no governor is 147mph. And that is redlined in 5th gear.

Just wondering, this is weird. Do you usually drive around with a load of about 2000 lbs. in the bed or something? The curb weight on your vehicle is only, at most, ~3400 lbs.

Ex modded WRX owner here. Loved the car. Especially on fire trails and windy roads. Never was into drag racing the thing. It's not what it was intended for.

It's hard to consider a WRX a rice burner. WRX owners don't even really hangout or like any of those CIVIC guys.
The stock turbo is running 14.5lbs of boost and is capable of 16-16.5 lbs.

For 24,500 AWD 227 hp it's one hell of a car, especially once you start changing things on it.
It was nice having the car for a while, but it's hard loading the thing up with dive gear.
It will always have a place in my heart though.

The STi which wil be available soon is 300HP and 300lbs of tourque. 31,800 is about the new price for the STi

Anyways, my 2 cents.
I wish I would've seen his face when you pulled him.
