Downey w/Doetsch Tech
#1
I have a friend of mine that has a set of Downey with Doetsch Tech shocks. Both are brand new never been installed. They have a 3" lift. I am able to pick them up for less then $200. Are they worth it and are they any good. This is for the rear only.

So I I can get them for maybe $160 would that be a good deal then? Are the shocks good as well. Would you say Downey is like OME and Doetch is like Rancho or OME shocks? Or would it be better with OME shocks with stock springs and spacer?

buy it and run it, can't beat the price.
from what downey says the doetsch tech mv12 shocks have 18mm shafts and are soft valved for desert running. just below bilsteins i think.
the soft valved shocks will ride real smooth and allow suspension flex, things you want.
only downside is they will squat more in a heavy load situation, but the ride and offroad
improvement will far outweigh any negatives.
for sure i would buy these and use them.
let us know how they work.

I guess I will plan on picking them up. I was just not sure how the quality is on them? I know it would be better then putting on a used set of 99 runner coils. Is 3" going to set me pretty high? I am running 265/70/17 on it and don't want tiny looking tires!

Here is what 3 inch Downeys did to mine way back in the day. You can see real well at the bumper next to the garage door for comparison. Those are 31s on it in the pics. They settled about an inch eventually and then held steady.

They are for a 3rd gen 4runner. I was curious on the sag as well. I can also go with 99 coil s used with spacer and OME new shocks for the rear and rough country shock up front with 99 coils and spacer for around $250. Again I hardly go off road deep trail this would be more for local and a off road every now and then.

I did get the Downey's and now I am looking for a front set up. I picked up a set of Bilstein HD's and was thinking OME 881's or 883"s which is better with the Downey's? I want a slight rake so when my kids are back there I am not sagging!!
