Does your antenna go up in non radio mode?

I've replaced my very very old after market CD player for a new after market CD player unit, and now the antenna goes up whenever the head unit is on. On the old unit it only went up when in the "radio" mode, and that happened once a month.

After reading some threads about antennas it appears most other people have the same thing, antenna goes up even in CD mode. Is that assumption correct?

I find the antenna going up and down every time getting in the vehicle unacceptable. It won't last long like that either.

more than likely your cd player only has a aux wire and not a power antenna wire

It all depends on your head unit. Some use the same output for he antenna & amp so the ant goes up all the time. Some people install a switch to control the antenna.

I just put a new pioneer in mine and had the same prob. Just install a switch between the antenna wire on the connector that goes to the radio and the rig. It's usually blue. This way u can flip the switch to raise or lower it manually when the head unit is on.

I guess your question is answered... but on my pioneer hu there is an option for either "power" or "radio". When on power it goes up whenever the headunit is on, and on radio... Maybe yours has a similar hidden setting?

Mine used to go up and down (I have an Alpine deck now), until I put an in-line switch to interrupt the antenna signal, which was the blue/white wire. I got a factory look-a-like switch from a local electronics place for $4.50 and used my label maker.

I'm thinking about it.

But I disabled my power antenna and the radio still works fine! (at least here in town). Now I have no external antenna. What could be better than that?
