mine is in all the time, unless offroading or when i put in my game carrier to haul around random items... haha I love having the game carrier in there because people wont even dare come close, as it is has one 3' long solid steel 2" square tubing and lots of steel around it... its especially fun when ricers get on you too close and you give a little tappy tappy to show them whos boss... i can be mean... but you shouldnt follow so close.

HA! i got rear ended by some lady driving an old boat about 3 weeks after i bought my truck. i got out and checked my damage: NONE. then looked at HER damage: needs a new bumper, grill, radiator (+ air condensor if she had air conditioning) and needs hood work. all because i had a hitch on there. i would feel bad, but i was at a dead stop at a traffic light and she creamed me while on her cell phone. so i really didn't feel bad at all. and my baby (my truck) just laughed it off as well.

it doesn't rattle at ALL on mine. although the thing is rock solid to the sub-frame through rust. haha. there ain't NO way i could get it off short of cutting it off even if i wanted to!

Mine sticks out about the same. I usually take it out and put the hitch brake light thingy (it's an industry term) in it's place. I saw a real nice hitch brake light at PepBoys the other day that has about 15 LEDs in it.

And yep, you're right. It hurts the shin when you hit.

yeah it protected our bumper, it was my wifes old car , but i still felt real bad, those 5mph bumpers saved us both i guess. wife would have killed me if i would have dented her car (4runner) she was rather upset when i told her what happened anyways. i would like to have the brake light thing, but havent run itno one cheap enough, i am a cheap skate!

Yea, I just got done installing a new rear bumper on my 4runner I got off ebay. I shoped for a year and $365 deliverd was the best deal I could find! If only the previous owner kept a hitch ball back there all the time it probably wouldn't have been dented! lol
