Question A different kind of exhaust question

I know I want to upgrade to larger pipes since my entire exhaust from the cat back is rusted. I have the 22R (not re), so its a 4cylinder. I don't want to sound too much like a fartkart rice rocket, but want to go up to 2" or even 2.25" My question is three fold. Which size should I get (will the 2.25 with a stock cat even leave enough backpressure for torque?), should I order a prefab exhaust like downey's or should I buy the pipe lengths and bends and weld it up at home? The final question, which muffler would be a good, cheap choice, something within the $50-60 range, again, I don't want to sound like fartkart. Thanks!

And I have checked out Corey's exhaust page, but there are no 4cyl on there! Where's the love?

I had an 86 toy with the 22r and I had ran 2 1/4 inch pipe from the cat back and ran great, and Im confident with saying better than the stock 1 3/4. I ran a performance glass pack and it had a good low tone that fit the style of the truck (not like a tin can sound all these honda gays are running)

my picture fix program expired so the pics a bit fuzy

What kind of glasspack was it, do you remember? Was it just some run of the mill like a cherry bomber, or was it a name brand? And did you order a prefab, or have a muffler shop make the pipes for you?

I think I am still eligible for a $25 gift certificate to summit racing, so a Flowtech Purplehorny would be free.

No I dont like cherry bombs. It was name brand but I dont remember what brand off the top of my head, It was about $60 bucks so it wasn't a cheapo and I had the pipes custom bent whith a chrome tip. The end price was about $130 or so. Not to bad a price and I liked the sound. I sold the truck in the picture a couple of months ago to help pay off my RUNNER. I wish I could of kept it because it was in awsome shape and I had a lot of time and money into it. It also did very well in the mud and snow as with any yoters do if you know what your doing.
