Did some good wrenching tonight!

Spent an hour and a half doing some wrenching tonight and boy was it worth it!

1. I changed the oil with Mobile 1 synthetic and used the large Ford 3.0 oil filter
2. Tightened the throttle cable.
3. Tightened the transmission kickdown cable.
4. Changed the transmission fluid. (Had way too much fluid put in last time. I realized the haynes manual said 4.3 pts and not 4.3 qts this time)

Let me just say that I thought the 3.4L was getting near the end of its life but after doing this work, it is as responsive as ever. The transmission is so much smoother now too. I love it!

Question: What is the third cable on the intake? It was loose too but I didn't touch it.

Here are links to the threads that gave me ideas to do the work tonight:

Wow, I just did this transmission mod too and wow what a difference!

My only questions were how much to tighten it? I put mine all the way on the rubber piece....?

This is better for the tranny?

It's your cruise control, leave it alone.

I went a little less than half way with the nut on for the transmission kickdown. It was a little to harsh for me with it tightened anymore than that. I have not seen anyone refute the statement that doing it is good for your tranny either.

Thanks for the tip MTL. I learned not to touch things that I am not sure about a while back hehe.
