Denatured alcohol?

I searched about cleaning throttle bodies but everyone said to clean it with carb cleaner, well I have some denatured alcohol here and was wondering if this is a good idea to clean the throttle body with this or is this stuff to strong? Just curious I use this to clean my little r/c engines and it does a very good job.

Thanks,
Mario

it should be fine. it may dissolve some of the rubber hoses and stuff, so be careful about that. but out here in colorado where we run 15% ethanol in our gasahol and everything is fine. in fact i bet ethanol is more gentle than carb cleaner.

break down and buy the throttle body cleaner. I hate the thought of taking a chance and damaging a sensor.

Denatured alcohol is just ethanol with a little bit of methanol added to make it extra poisonous. You can use it on your TB but you'll be disappointed with the results. TB cleaner is a much better solvent.

It should be fine. We've used it for cleaning out the A/C lines at work.
