Dead Hatch Struts

What's anyone using these days? At $177 each for OEM I am ready to explore aftermarket options.

I don't know, my originals work fine on both rigs, 20-22 years later and at -30*C, I realize its not a Lower Ball joint but you get my point. Aftermarket stuff is hit and miss, usually a miss on a 100Lb tailgate(guessing)

I put a pair of StrongArm 6815 on 2 years ago, $44 for the pair. More lifting force over the oe. As in unlatch the hatch and stand back as it opens itself.
So far they aren't showing any sign of weakening, we'll see. I doubt they'll last as the oe did, but was getting tired of getting bonked in the head when it gets cold so I am giving these a go. Time will tell.
If you want something a little less- aggressive- when it opens there is an oe-similar version too.

I've had mine about the same amount of time. Still going strong. Be aware, they do take more effort to close. It's a challenge to close one-handed.

I think I'll try an aftermarket set and see how it pans out. If its a success I'll post results.
