Daystar vs Downey/Corfed lift set-up???

Okay I have ordered my lift combo(Cornfed spacers, and Downey coils) but I just now looked at the Daystar kit for some reason and liked the look of it as well. I also saw it on Adam's Runner(very sweet by the way) and got second thoughts about my set-up on the way. Is there anyone else out there running the Daystar package? If so let me know I'm curious about the durrability of the polyurethane? How durrable is it to minor abuse? Let me know which you think is the better, mine that I have coming or the Daystar, I can always send stuff back.

Ditto!!!

From the feedback I have gotten, the design is poorly implemented.

Well....

I have Daystar and no problems here....but then again....my truck is set up for the street and shows. It rides smoother than stock. I have done alittle light trail rides with no probs. For off-road, probably stay where you are.

Here's a link to my site that has pics of my ride....

Man I know your rig very well, I go off yours for ideas on mine. Your have exactly what I want, but can't afford, that is why you had me looking at the Daystar lift set-up. Glad to hear I made the better chocie though. I'll stick w/ the set-up on it's way. Now all I need is a free day and 120 bucks for instalation, good ol' boy at Merchants is going to lift it and do my tires all in one day, can't beat these NC boys who never stop to think about helping make things easier for ya. Then I need to find a creek bed around here(I really want to get a pic in a creak bed) and take some pics. to show you guys my truck for the first time.

Hey pfdaxe, your truck is looking really sharp, especially that shot of all your white gauges. Who makes the gauges in you A pillar pod? Are those actually 2 pods?

Thanks

Rear spacers are kind of lame off-road. Stiffer springs are better. The Daystar spacers split the 2.5" on each side of the top plate, with one spacer on top of the pack and one inside the pack. The Cornbred replace the top plate, all of the spacer bulk is insode the pack preloading the spring. Spacers on top of the strut unit are undesireable.

In the long run you did the right thing, so stop 2nd guessing it.

Thanks Beowulf:

I installed Autometer "Phantom" voltmeter and boost gauge on my A-pillar. I had to relocate the grab bar alittle higher. I also installed blue bulbs in them to match the indiglo dash.

Thanks sschaefer3 for the postive words about my set-up, glad to hear I went the better route, just wish I coulda got the SAWs like you, but no2nd guessing there(no way in hell I coulda afforded those w/ my budget) got the best that I could afford.
Hey pfdaxe , back to your rig again, where did you get those indiglo gauges, I really want to get a set and yours are the best looking ones I have seen ever, especially the TRD logo really sets it off. Could you let me know where & which company you got them from, also where did the TRD logo come from? Sorry for all the questions, I just got kind of excited when I saw your set-up on the gauges, hahah .

Got the indiglo gauges on Ebay. They sell them for about $40. But Im waiting for the reverse indiglos. The TRD is just a sticker placed on the tach face.

Iniglo will have a white face by day and a blue tint at night...reverse indiglo will have a white face by day and a black face at night. That is a fairly simple explanation...if I can find one I will post some pics of the two

Is there a "reverse indiglo" available for the 2nd Gen Runners? I've only see "indiglos".

Yeah pics would be nice, because in my mind I don't see how you could see black faces at night anyways, it sounds really cool, I would like to see some shots of a reverse indiglo gauge, for a 4Runner or not, I would just like to see how they look.

Maxima Dash

I wonder if it is the same effect as this. My 2000 Maxima has silver guages with black print during the day and at night it reverses to black faces with lighted print. I took pics, but I need to figure out how to upload them...:pat:

Your correct. With indiglos, the whole face glows at night. With "reverse" indiglos, only the numbers glow. Here are a few links. One shows my indiglos and one is a link to an Ebay auction with reverse indiglos. They only seem to make the reverse indiglos for '96-'98 presently.

Some of these gauges look great but, I have heard about things being placed and spelled all wrong on some of the set-ups. How do you weed out the bad and get only the good, quality stuff. How did you do it pfdaxe?

I've been buying and selling on Ebay for over 2 years. Trust me.....you figure out who the fakes and scammers are. Always check feedback ratings of the sellers and ask questions. Most people are up front with you. I never buy form someone new to Ebay or a low feedback rating.
