Dash Temp Control Light

I have a 1999 4Runner Limited with the light out for the I/O Temperature and digital temp control. I have noticed several other posts that simply say there are 2 bulbs behind the controls that you have to change but is this for a simple dial control module and not the digital read out that I have? Seems to me that this is an LCD that has some other sort of lighting but I could be wrong.

I have the same one but know nothing about it yet, except it dims when the turn signal blinks and it looks a touch dimmer than the radio. I guess it's on it's way out already. I know one other guy with the same truck as mine minus the mods that said the same thing about it being dim.
