Im loving my new to me double cab with the exception of the dash lighting… is there any way to change the lights from the orange to green ? Im willing to buy a cluster from an older taco if I can find one, I like the black background better than the white anyway but if I can just replace bulbs or pull out some orange covers that would be a lot easier!!! If any one knows of a write up let me know, Im replacing my head unit this week and my vent air control selectors bulb is burned out anyway so now is the time to swap it out to green if possible! I personally hate the orange and my new head units buttons are either green or white… Thanks!! ~Matt

 

Sorry, its an 02 TRD 4x4 D cab with white guage faces and orange lights on the dash...

 

you won't nessisarily need to buy a older cluster to put in, just swap the bulb covers from the older cluster, i did the oppisite of you, and swapped the orange ones into my 98 tacoma. as for the vent controls, the orange lighting is in the back of the display panel, not the bulbs. there is one year of 4runner that has the same vent control, just with green backing, my friend's 2001 4runner has that vent control . and as for the clock. the faceplates give the clock the color, so you would need another clock from the junkyard (clock is $330 at the dealership). but swapping to the green is possible

 

Can the vent crontrol panel be torn apart and have the orange sheet removed??? Id be fine with just changing out the main cluster to green and the temp controls so they all match the new radio, the other buttons are fine since they are so small and the clock, well it hides behind the steering wheel, I didnt even know my truck had one till my fiance drove us home the other day in it and I was in the passenger seat!!!

 

the vent backlighting is on the back of the front plate, where all the different symbols for your vent controls, you can try. but i don't know if you can remove the color

 

I got all of my backlights changed to green, well I didnt do the clock, or the locker button but everything else, it looks SO much better to me than the stock orange! I had to get an AC control panel from a 4 runner with the knobs to correctly change them out. Ill get some pictures posted if I can get them to come out clear! I didnt do LED bulbs, I bought new silicone green bulb covers!
