does anybody know how hard it is to replace the whole dash? I might be getting a pulled one from a junker and just was wondering on installation stuff.

you might try some two part epoxy or something like that to fill the crack and sand it down smooth with some 1500 grit and then prime and paint. I mean it sounds like you really have nothing to lose at this point if it don't work you can go back to the buy a replacement plan.

Just a thought ....

JB Weld
Sandpaper
Velcro
Vinyl Spray paint



When the dash cracks it likes to rais up like this ^ right along the crack. You need to carefully sand this down even thought it opens up the crack wider.
Mix the JB Weld as normal, and apply to the crack like spackel.

Dabbing the velcro into the JB weld gives it the perfect texture that matches the rest of the dash. You might have to exsperiment and let your artistic side out a little but it is easy to do. Even though JB Weld is thick, it tends to smooth itself out so you have to let it set up for a while before you can texture it. Don't be surprised it you come back and the texture is gone if you dont baby sit it.

After it dries paint it. Use the Vinyl Dye Spray paint, it will coat cover and wear much better than regular paint, or plastic paint. It also has the right look, neither real glossy or flat.

 

I would think the epoxy would work a little better than JB weld, but I'm not sure. i have a small crack in my dash on the passenger side. If I try to fix it this way I'll be sure to get some pictures and we'll see how things go.

Just revinyl the thing. That's what I'm going to do. Smooth out all of your cracks, then glue a new piece of vinyl over it.. bam, you're done!

 

hmmm, not a bad idea. But I think there are alot of places where things could go wrong. Just my .02 thanks anyway
