In Dash Screens

I have the option of getting 1 of these In dash dvd players. I wanted to get some opinions before I made my final choice. The units are the Clarion Proaudio vrx935vd and the Alpine iva-d900. Im trying to get some input on them.

I sold both when I was working at a hifi store. buy the alpine, it has the highest resolution on the market. close to the resolution of a computer monitor.

this helps greatly when you are driving anywhere where there is sunlight. the alpine is much easier to read in the daytime.

it is a PITA to learn to use though, the clarion is a bit easier, eclipse is easy to navigate throught.

keenwood is easiest to use, but it's a dog poo head unit.

just my opinions though

I say get an Eclipse. Alpine has shady ratings on their line out voltage and Eclipse simply rocks....best SQ possible, very high quality equipment, comparable prices to Alpine.

Go with the alpine! i saw the screen at the store and it was amazing, best res i have ever seen, you can also do alot with it like multiple screens (different feed for each headrest), inputs, outputs, it has tons of features. dont know if the others have... also there are ways to get around the safety screen lock...even though you shouldn't drive watching a dvd....hehe

I am sure you can rig it to bypass this feature.

I would go with the best resolution/brightest screen you can get.
I liked the clarion when I saw it but the alpine sounds very nice too.

on the alpines units there are two ways to get around the safety feature. either you could wire 2 switches or buy a bypass unit on ebay, last i checked it goes for like $40. basically you wire 2 switches to mimic the brake and e-brake to get the video to come on. on the kenwood, eclipse, or pioneer units its a simple as grounding a wire.

i just bought the Alpine unit, won't be getting it install for about a month, long story, but got it because of the screen resolution, have you looked at the Pioneer unit? i was looking at those also, real easy to use touch screen, Alpine's new line will be out soon, they have a reasonably priced screen and DVD player, retail will be around 1400.00. Which ever one you'll get have fun.
