Custom Autometer Guage cluster

Hello, just wondering if anyone has ever installed an Autometer speedometer in their Tacoma. The spedo in my truck is not working correctly, it reads much faster than the truck is going. Most if the time it is pegged at 110 when I am only doing 30. the odometer works perfectly (I've checked it against the mile markers on the interstate when the spedo was way off). If anyone has any ideas on where the problem is, I would appreciate the feed back. I have done lots of seraching and posted here before, but can't figure out where the problem is. There is a cable coming from the tranny to the spedo, and I am pretty sure the problem is with the gauge itself.

Anyway, before guessing at the problem, I would like the mount an Autometer speedometer on the dash for now. Does anyone know if the gauge will work with the factory sending unit in the tranny? And if so, what cable can I buy that will work. The senders from Autometer are all geared toward American cars. I have searched this forum and haven't found anyone who has put one in. I would like to eventually replace all the gauges in the dash with Autometer gauges, but I will start with the Speedometer.

Truck specs:
1996 Tacoma Std cab
2.7L 4cyl
4x4
5 speed manual
