When I look at the back of my Tacoma, the left side is taller than the right side(a 1/4" to be exact). I've never seen this on any of my cars that I noticed. What is causing this? Was it in a wreck maybe? Old Suspension?

 

My 4Runner was like that to for a while until one day I cranked the right torsion bar and lowered the left and now it's level.

 

If I'm not mistaken the gas tank is on the left side of your truck and the springs are setup to account for that plus the weight of the driver. Check it when you have a full tank. Mine always sat lower on the passenger side and cranking on the torsion bar fixed that - but you don't have torsion bars.

 

hmm mine sits lower on the passenger side rear too, maybe oneday i'll get aroudn to messing with the torsion bars..

hmm being it'll bug me now that I know I can fix it and I'll most likely fix it tomorrow, loosening the bolt on the back end of the torsion bar is to lower correct? and will this mess with my allignment much? since i'll be going on a pretty long trip this weekend that kinda concerns me.

 

Do it after your trip. I only messed with my passenger side bar and I've noticed the alignment is a little off. When it is very noticable is in crosswinds.

 

The front measures almost exactly the same on each side, definately not the 1/2 inch of difference the rear seems to have.. so should I just not touch the torsion bars because its probbaly dude to my springs sagging?

I'd leave it alone. I've noticed when my gas tank is full the right side drops 1/4" and the left side goes up 1/4" so the difference is 1/2". It levels out even at 1/2 tank.

 

1/4" is probably well within the factory assembly tolerance. Don't forget that our trucks are mass produced.

 

Yeah I think I will just leave it alone, thats like 1/2 inch with only 1/4 tank of gas though.. but with a full tank, which I rarely have anyway, both sides go down I think, so it's not to bad, I can live with it till I get downey hd springs someday.
