Yeah, I'm in the ticking group too....

Someone has to know how to get this fixed?? Maybe just the thread title is throwing off the heavy hitters to chime in...

That's what I wasn't sure about because my problem is also a TICKING not a buzz. I think I jumped to a quick conclusion when I saw posts of the charcoal canister. I definitely know that it is coming from the EVAP system (the black box) near the fender wall because I put my finger on it and can feel the ticking going on inside. I would figure that someone on here has to know but nobody has chimed in yet. Maybe we should start a new thread with the word "TICKING" in it????

I had ticking/knocking

It took a while to find mine but it was because the crankshaft pulley was not torqued down properly at the last TB change and had loosened. The noise was the pulley wobling. I remember reading that toyota changed the recommended torque value to a higher one to prevent this. If it gets too loose then it can move and twist the key that holds it in place. Just a thought. I think I had put a previous post when I had fixed mine that describes the problem I had in more detail. Good luck.

I have a '99 manual, I too have the "cricket" noise. It is my clutch bearing. It just needs to be tightened. No big deal, if it bothers you, have it tightened, if not let it be.
