Crazy issue with right blinker cutting cruise control off

When I have cruise control on and put my right blinker on- it cuts the CC off. When I am driving and use my blinkers for switching lanes- my engine revs up 300-400 rpm and sometimes switches into OD?????????????? What is going on here?

Do you have any LED lights in your rig? Mine has acted that way since I put LEDs in, even though I switched out my flasher unit. If it's not that, I don't know...

Are any of you turn signal bulbs burned out?

You likely have a bad trailer wiring harness converter; the converter is allowing the right turn signal to apply voltage to the brake feed, causing the cruise control unit to receive a 'braking' signal, thus cancelling the cruise. Look for and remove your trailer wiring harness converter and see if the problem goes away. Alternatively, try installing a diode between the trailer converter and the brake lamp signal wire.

Blinkers work- not sure why the engine would go into OD when you hit the blinker.

The cruise control issue and the strange transmission issues are directly related to the brake signal. If the ECU receives a brake signal, it will shift the transmission as though you were braking. It might shift into OD or lock the torque converter, depending on circumstances. If you can prevent the brake signal from bleeding back into the ECU, your cruise control and shifting issues will disappear. I'd put my money on a bad trailer converter, or a bad bulb, socket, or even a bad ground in one of the taillights.

I'll try to check that. When I put the left blinker on with the cruise- it doesn't cut the CC off, it just goes into to OD. lol
