Crazy Clutch Problem

Hi All,
I am new to posting on the forum but have been using it extensively during my rebuild of a 96 3rzfe manual 4runner. So thank you all for that and in advance for any new help.

The engine is rebuilt (My first rebuild ever!!!) and will run, but the new problem is that it is still stuck in my driveway. I can't get it into gear when the engine is on. If I push hard enough on the shifter the 4runner will stall. This has been going on for so long that I just bought a new clutch (pressure plate, cover, clutch release bearing, pilot bearing) and still the same problem.

I have also...
bled the clutch line
adjusted the pedal height
adjusted the push rod
drained and replace the transmission fluid
made double sure the pressure plate is in the right direction

The car will not start with the clutch in and in gear, only clutch in and out of gear.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated... Thanks again

Something is causing the clutch to stay engaged, how long have you owned the truck? Did it drive fine before the engine rebuild? These trucks are notorious for the clutch pedal bracket cracking to the point where pushing in the clutch pedal, the bracket flexes so much that the clutch cannot disengage, first look at that bracket, do a search and you will find plenty of threads and pics of typical spots that it cracks. If that checks out fine, I would then look to the slave and master cylinder.

I've had the truck for a couple of years, yeah the clutch worked fine before the rebuild. The clutch pedal bracket looked totally fine when I pulled it out.
I am getting quite a bit of throw out of the push rod, so I think the master and slave would be fine?

Check your pushrod again. When I did my engine swap I had the same problem and just needed to adjust the pushrod some more.
