Mine has two remotes.
A plain one and the bigger one with the pager built in.

Yeah, my Python also said that it would transmit 1200 ft. Might have been true in an unobstructed straight shot, but once I was inside a building, it was a no go. You can test it by pressing the lock button and the pager will beep once the main unit in the car responds that the car has been locked (at least that's how mine worked). Once I stepped into a restaurant, mall, movies, etc., it never worked.

This sounds like a great idea that everyone should have on their rig. Is there anything you have to have initially to get these alarms installed?

I was told when I bought my truck that it was outfitted for a remote lock/unlock transmitter but never did get the remote. It this something that comes with SR5s? 3rd gens? I would imagine you'd have to have the receiver in your truck for this to work is all.

Thanks!

Sounds like they were just talking about your standard keyless entry, most 3rd gens came with it. Never seen one without it actually...

Toyota does have an alarm system that they offered but it's nowhere near anything like the aftermarket offers.

One of the bast ways to keep stuff from being stolen out of your vehicle is to take the stuff out or to hide it. Most BMV's are crime of opportunity. Alarms help with some but not all. If there is something of value on the seat or floor board only takes a sec to smash the window and grab it.

Yeah...I have a buddy that is an electrical genius. He could probably do the install. He's going to help me rewire my stereo system as well, so I may be able to kill two birds with one stone and get it all done at once.

I'll have to ask him.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but I keep on seeing Clifford and Viper systems on froogle.com (google's shopping engine) for under $200 bucks. The on their websites they are upwards of $400 bucks for the same device.

What's going on with that?

I'm asking this because someone got their vehicle broke into at my work last week and I'm wanting to install a security system. I just installed an Eclipse 3100 and don't want it stolen.

Thanks!

I have an auto page 750. itkills the ignition if not unlocked with the remote and it has a paging system so you know if someone is f'n with your stuff. i also installed auto locks on the doors. it has a remote start but most shops wont hook that up if u have a stick. mine sais it will page me up to half mile away. it halso has a driver pager. you tap the windshield twice on a certain spot and it notifies you that someone is at you rig. i love my alarm. igot it after my truck was jacked taken to the hills and stripped. i got it back though and fixed her back up.
