I have a 97 4runner 5 speed and when starting my car in first gear it starts to rev high and starts to drive on its own while the clutch is still being pushed in, also if I start it in first and hold the clutch and push the break it revs high then dies out....also I get trouble putting it back into first gear whenever I put it in neutral....all these symptoms also happens in reverse.. any help would be good.

 

It sounds like a problem that I had a few months ago. My clutch would start to engage my itself. It started to do it a little but by the end of the day it would fully engage in a matter of seconds. It was my clutch master cylinder. Replaced it and problem solved.

I don't know why the engine revs.

 

I'll look in to that before I replace my clutch, thanks for the reply....
