Cold Air Box?

Anyone have any pics of a cold air box they made or are there any maufactured for my truck? Has anyone insulated their air intake tubing or wraped it w/ reflective tape? Looking to keep the air as cool as possible.

haha or better yet, wire up one of those computer cleaners (the ones that use that really cold compressed air) to the front of your deckplate and vuoala! instant intercooler at the touch of a button haha!

edit: Actually I wonder if that would work.......

IVE GOT IT!!

go buy a single room ac unit from wal mart for $50 then remove the airbox to mount it under the hood along with the power inverter then duct the output from the ac straight into you intake. Instant cold air!!

Did you hear about that new Ford design where they are routing AC air into the intake track? Sounds interesting.

Ya, it's gonna be on the new 2004 Lightning I believe. I think they will be able to hit a but, and use the "extra-cooled" air for something like 30 seconds. Supposedly it's good for another 50 hp or so.....like the Lightning doesn't have enough already!!!

I dont know about you guys, but my 4Runner is noticably slower with the AC on. I know this debate has gone on before...but for me its true.

So my question would be: Would the cold AC air intake mod gain enough HP to override the HP loss of the AC?

I guess it would if Ford is doing it. Then again, they have done much stranger things in the past...

Because running the A/C sucks up more HP than you'll gain from the cold air.

Try putting some of those reuseable freezer packs in the air box: you can refreeze them and no water will get in from the melting ice!

Also try wrapping the intake w/Saran Wrap or aluminum foil to see if that helps.

And if you have a K&N, your rig will enjoy some of the burrito too.

I dunno how that's gonna work out unless you find a way to fit a mini kegerator in there Maybe bypass the coolant line into a box to act as a mini-fridge. Or you could just take bajataco's idea and shove a fridge in the back.
