Code 42, vehicle speed sensor?

Where the hell is this thing located at? On our chevy with the 4L80e it'd be at the tranny's tail housing, but what about on my auto yota with the 3vze?

It should be on top the trans. About in the middle... the ABS speed sensor is on the rear diff.

Or, depending upon which auto tranny you have.

VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR
ON–VEHICLE REPAIR
1. DISCONNECT VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR
2. REMOVE VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the bolt and the vehicle speed sensor assembly.
(b) Remove the clip and the driven gear from the vehicle
speed sensor.
(c) Remove the O–ring from the vehicle speed sensor.
3. INSTALL VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Coat a new O–ring with ATF and install it to the vehicle
speed sensor.
(b) Install the driven gear and the clip to the vehicle speed
sensor.
(c) Install the vehicle speed sensor assembly with the bolt.
Torque: 16 N·m (160 kgf·cm, 12 ft·lbf)
4. CONNECT VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR

Either way, it doesn't say anything about dropping the tranny.

I have never done it. But, looking at the instructions, I would say no and would allocate about 30 minutes.

WATRD -

Thanks for the procedure on that, I do appreciate it! I guess that makes it easier in that I just need to track down where the speedo cable jumps into the tranny, be it the tail end of it on the TC or the middle top of the tranny....
