Clutch not lasting, Aftermarket Options?

So, I replaced my clutch about 7 months ago, and I get the feeling this one isn't going to last much longer... maybe year total...

I don't really drive on them very hard, and the clutch before that was Toyota OEM and it lasted approximately 2 years. This one is Checker "OEM Replacement", good job me... granted I DO offroad a good amount so they get some wear from that, plus I have 4.30 gears with 33's

SO, I'm decideing what I will replace this one with. My flywheel is newish (replaced with clutch last time) so it should be ok. I was thinking Centerforce, but then I ran accross this:

Marlin Crawler Ceramic Clutches!

They are around the same price as Centerforce, but I'm thinking these would be the better option based on the performance of cermaic braking technology... I haven't heard great things about centerforce anyway so... discuss!

Note: Ceramic brakes get grippier with heat, and so do these clutches, I think this would be a very good thing in tough driving situations.

i dotn see why your clutch is shot already... my centerfoce dual friction has been in my truck for over 18 months and is still as grippy as the day ii put it in... and i beat the crap out of my truck....

also i have 31s, which dont seem like a big deal, but i have a 3.07 gear ratio.... and 31s are 6" taller than the oe tire for my truck

I dunno, but it was a crappy Checker clutch so I'm thinking that's why, and even though it has a "warrantee" on it, I don't think it's worth the effort.

On a sililar note, anyone tried ceramic brake pads? Good, bad, same and it didn't matter? I'm going to need new rotors and pads here in a few months (all of this is planning ahead, I need to save money...)

A clutch should be good for 70-80K or more easily unless you got other issues or improper installation. I'd go OEM for a clutch replacement as those ceramic ones are 3 times the price and not sure they last 3 times as long. Many of them are either ON or OFF, there is NO slipping the clutch.

I'm not sure any clutch I would ever put in my car would last more than 3 years, but that's just from personal experience (also, I only drive about 10k mileas a year.) Most people that take their trucks off road a fair amount say their clutch lasts about 2-4 years, so I figured mine is normal.

I don't smoke my clutch a lot or anything, what gives? I'm bringing all this up because I have noticed I have to let my clutch out a fair bit farther to fully engage it, much more than when I first installed it, and the grab isn't as 'crisp' as it used to be. The flywheel is new-ish as I said, and the clutch is a Checker Auto Parts OEM replacement (only cost like $150 so I wasn't expecting much.)

I love the manual transmission, I just need a clutch that lasts longer, I don't really care if the pedal effort is harder, I just want something that puts up with my apparent abuse...

8 years here on my centerforce D/F clutch turning 33's. I bought the heavier flywheel at the same time. I used to go through clutches all the time since I'm very hard on the skinney pedal.

It is a hydro clutch system that auto adjusts, the grab point shouldn't change. You may need to bleed the system or change you fluid. I got 200,000 miles out of my stock clutch and that was with towing and plowing snow. My new clutch has almost 40,000 miles and 4 years on it with no problem at all. There is a way to reset the engage heightbut I don't remember what it is (something like 4 pump with the motor off??)

This might be a little overkill for me from the looks of the specs

This sounds like a good idea, I'll try it out

Expect $500 for a custom.
