put in a new stereo and now i cant find the plug that goes to the clock?? does anybody have a pic of it?? kinda weird it's missing??

 

haha did you have it working before? I did the same thing after i put everything back together I realized my clock wasnt working. Popped everything back off and realized I had put the clock plug in a slot that originally didn't have anything in it to begin with. The catch was it fit in it like it was suppose to so thats why I thought it belonged there. You might have done the same thing. I know it's black and about an inch in width and mabye half an inch tall. This might or might not be the same case cus I don't know what your vehicle is.

 

There are two slots on the back of the switch panel in your '99+ 4Runners that accommodate that plug. One works the clock, the other.....not really sure what it does. Just plug it into the other port (the back of the clock), and it should work fine.

 

ya it was working before. first time i thought i just forgot to plug it back, then i was just stumped when i took it back out for the 2nd time not finding an extra plug. i called it quits and will recheck it tomorrow. thanks for the tip. btw: mines is a 2000, just to let others know

 

I did it too, don't feel so bad, so did the Guy I bought it from. When I bought it he said it was broken, so when I took out my nav radio I found the connection was wrong and switched it then when I put my new stereo in I put it back in that dummy plug and had to pull everything apart again.

 

that was it!! it was plugged into the wrong socket. i'm glad i'm not the only one, hahaha. j/k i do feel like an idiot, thinking there was another harness somewhere. thanks for the help!!

 

I just did this the other day when I did the Taco Antenna mod... I pulled the center panel off and couldn't for the life of my figure out where the plug for the clock could have gone. At least we're all in good company.

 

post like this make me wonder how many engineers look and say "haha, i knew if i did this that way someone would do it wrong" i too have had this problem but it was when i got it back from the dealership and they said the clock didnt work and it would be $250 to replace it.. so dont feel bad if if trained professionals have done it.

 

just wondering, does anyone know what the other plug is for??

 

good, question... a little researched never hurt. It seems like even though the plug is there, nothing on any 4Runner (evidently) plugs into it.
