Now that's funny.
zubaltec, these 600-1000HP monsters you're building, not even considering the cat issue, are they street legal?
Sorry, but I have to agree with the others on this one, especially coming from a science background.
Unless of course catalytic converters are a part of some big government conspiracy. In that case, call in Mulder and Scully.

All of our customer cars are street legal. Even our race car is registered. If you were to spend 20-100K on your Supra wouldn't you want it to be street legal? But very few have cats so I guess to you guys there not street legal. So where is all this scientific data at. I know you computer commando's have plenty of free time to do provide it for us. Some of you need to do a little more testing and a little less listen from what everyone else says.
Thanks,
John
Thanks,
John

Use you hands for typing and find some information besides some cop out that the EPA knows more then some guy, cause I got use mine to get back to building 600-1000 HP Supra's without cats.

In most states there is both a sniff test and visual check to see of you have a catalytic converter and if its working. No cat and too much hydrocarbon in the exhaust = illegal.
Untill you produce un-doctored inspection papers, I, as many readers, don't believe your statments to be true. Even with papers there are ways to beat the system. I.E. bolt in a cat for inspection, remove it till the next inspection. That's illegal and unethical.

Yeah, to us and the State of Florida.

Not quiet pirates, just sailors.

Ahrm... One quick question before some one gets bludgeoned to death with huge virtual rocks... The people that say their running flo-thru cats, what brand cats are you running? This is my next upgrade after having my two POS reject carbs run bad exhaust fumes out the back of my truck.

In Florida gov't control really isn't a problem, no inspections and cops don't care. I'd get a high flow cat, but being a college student taking out loans means zero cash flow. And increasing the greenhouse effect just mean the freshmen girls are gonna wear less, which I think is a positive. I've got to do my part to balance out the tree huggers, right?

Oh, the "I can't afford to take care of my vehicle right after I go out and beat the hell out of it" argument.
So get a bike.
If you're resourceful at all, you could find a used one somewhere. You might even try the poor college boy routine and get it cheaper or free.
Don't pull the I can't afford it routine...I see your list of mods. Use your head and do the right thing.

I always had about 500-1000 in pell grant money left after all was said and done to buy computer parts. haha. I'm paying for it all now though. haha. er actually I just got through paying for it last year.
I had a work study job though so I could pay for room and board with that money.

All the mods on my sig were done when I was in high school and living for free and working 30+ hrs a week. Since I get no money from dad, and since his expected contribution as per FASFA is $50k a year, and since I'm not a minority (my 1490 SAT is worth nothing to UF), its hard enough for me to pay for insurance and gas with loan money plus work. I don't mean to b!tch, I'm going through mod withdrawl, be supportive .

1490 huh?
Congratulations.
Pay your own insurance.
Atta boy.
Dad didn't pay for your college?
Welcome to the club.
Not a minority?
I got told my 4.0, lack of melanin, and Y chromosome didn't qualify me either.
I managed anyway...and you will too.
Look, you're doing a lot of things right, but you have to start thinking of a picture that is bigger than a 3 meter sphere around yourself. In essence, every action has a consequence...and not necessarily to you. If you drop the cat, it may never affect you...that you can tell. However, you have enough education you can sit down and figure out that this cat removal business isn't just about you. It's about the other million or so individuals who do the same thing and dump unburned hydrocarbons, nitrous oxides and carbon monoxide into the atmosphere to be changed by interaction with UV rays and breathed in by folks everywhere.
Allergies, childhood asthma, and now adult onset asthma are all on the increase. Surface ozone (damages lung tissue) levels are so high in many cities that they have warnings about excercising outdoors. And just because you don't see what's happening in your neck of the woods doesn't mean that there changes going on.
It doesn't take a 1490 SAT to figure this one out bub.
Go find a muffler shop, tell them your predicament and see what they can do for you. There are lots of good folks in this world....folks who are concerned with a little more than a 3 meter sphere around themselves.
Congratulations.

I really started this just to see if there would be any gains IF i cleared out my cat. Didn't mean to start a bunch of arguing. My most recent post was a response to GW's
I wasn't trying to get pity, just explain myself. but I sure do love how thinking about clearing out my cat and trying to add a little humor makes me an evil self centered bastard, but hey as a right winger in liberal Gainesville, I'm used to it
