I like your Idea of armor. I have a really stupid dog and a few times while jumping into my jeep one of his paws would go between the 1" tube (I had) and the body. the only use for the tube was to prevent body impacts not as a step. I fixed my stupid dog (no further injury to the gene pool) and the jeep on the same day, although I hope the vet didn't use a grinder. with 1/2" thick x 2"x2" angle Iron X lenght of uninterupted channel (My toy is an x-cab so I get a little more length and structural strength) attached with the right combination of liquid nails and bolts it won't come off or leak and the over all strenght for that piece of 1/2"
should displace the weight of the truck against rocks etc.. if it is 3+ feet long right????

Do you have a pic of this, or are you planning on doing this in the future. If its done, post a pic. 1/2" angle won't be bending anytime soon, the truck will likely give first. Depending on how it's attached, you could probably bounce off of rocks all day.

If I use Roger Brown billet blocks for a 1" BL, how much will the body be flexing on the frame? Isn't the goal a stiffer assembly? I'm sure I can build in some slop for flex somehow.

Chebby.. Rogers body lift keeps the stock body mounts and just adds spacers on top of the factory ones.. (or poly mounts if you do it right)

You would hate the ride of the truck in about a day if you have the body bolted solid to the frame.. (trust me, I had an old Dodge that I welded the cab solid to the frame because the body mounts rotted off)

As for the clearance issue.. You are better off due to a design like my bars (FoxFab exclusive) They can work to help you.. if there is a rock that may bash in your door the sliders may keep you off it.. And you can use them to piviot off rocks and trees better. The sliders do not really stick out too much further than the body if you count the profile of the door.. (remember just how much it bows out.. IMHO, go with a normal tube slider desgn.. (also, IMHO, they look far better than the 2x2 square ones..)

LAST BUT NOT LEAST....Delboy, You are the man!! I LOVE IT!!!
That is my new desktop photo..
(I no longer have a program to photochop with and kinda miss it..)

Hey, what part of the emerald isle are you on??

I LOVE THIS!! Can someone make opaque stickers of this so I can put them on my mirrors in place of the "objects are closer blah blah blah".....
Can you see it??

WARNING, objects you drive over MAY NOT hit the frame first.

Im from Dublin originally, but am buying a house in Kilkenny, which is about 70 miles from Dublin. Dublins too busy now and too expensive. Glad you like the image. Only took about 10 minutes. Need anything else done, give me a shout!

Additional thought:

While wheeling, you lose traction and slide sideways towards a large rock. Two scenarios could ensue.

1. You have cladding, so you hit the rock and because the cladding does not stick out very far, your body pivots on the cladding and buggers the door.

2. You have sliders, so you hit the rock and because the lever arm is longer, it takes a higher rate of lateral slide to rotate and bugger the door. Alternatively, if you have Kong's sliders, the second bar prevents rocking into the body.

Just a thought. The way I imagine this cladding, I think it would end up holding water against the body and causing rust.
