Checking Systems

Hey guys. My buddy and i moved out to hawaii to do some forest research for 12 months or so. He bought a nice white 98 4runner that sat here for 3 months or maybe 6, can't remember. Its running great but i'm noticing a little hesitation when starting, i notice it more when hot starting. Theres also some crazy elevation changes here. From sea level to 9000 feet or 13000 feet in an hour and a half. What should i be looking for to keep this thing tuned up right.
thanks!

Yeah it is, and does. I have a feeling that one of the systems isn't 100%. You can also tell the guy before drove it hard. And, Hawaii is truck heaven. You won't see some many lifted and good looking toyotas in any other state at the same time. I'll have to start sharing some photos for yall.

Also the car stalled out in traffic once, just sitting at a light.

Plugs, wires, filters (fuel, air), throttle body & MAF cleaning, seafoam, etc. Can't hurt to do those things; cheap, easy & necessary. Use the search to find write-ups on these procedures. If the problems persist after that I'd be surprised.
Also worth mentioning, I think that gas that sits in the tank for extended periods of time can lead to moisture build up and may cause the symptoms you are mentioning.
