Check engine light

Ok my check eng. lt. came on again after I had reset the efi fuse, a friend of mine told me that it could be the o2 sensor being that my runner has 100k mls on it, any help will be appreciated.

It would be best to get the code first before you do any part replacing. Not too long ago I posted the OBD II error codes in the maintenance section and if you take a look at it here:

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...obd+diagnostic

you'll see that there's a WHOLE bunch of possibilities for that CEL.

If you're willing to take a chance you may think about purchasing this little item:

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/creader-obd-ii-diagnostics-code-reader-27751/

and seeing what code(s) you get. I pulled some codes but haven't decided to give it my full endorsement yet because I haven't been able to determine if the codes it gave me are indeed the reasons behind the CEL. I'm pretty sure but I don't want anyone to get mad at me so I'm holding back until I see that warning light disappear.

If it is indeed the O2 sensor try a search using "generic" and "sensor" if you're looking for a cheaper aftermarket solution. Otherwise the dealer will charge you over $100 for the code reading and about $200-300 for the O2 replacement.

Definitely figure out what the cause is first though.

thanks for the info, I guess I'll wait and see if your little gadget works, I'm from CA but I'm working in NJ for a while and my truck is here with me, I wonder if they do the reading in Jersey.

Too many star Lawyers out there that need to make $$$$$.
The dollar rules over common sense out there. :pat:

As for your problem, I would bet O2 sensor (based on mileage and year).
Do yourself a favor and pull the codes to know for sure!
Then post back with the code you get and we can help then.

Got it, I will take to this friendly shop around me, they told me that they have an odb reader and I'm pretty sure that it's going to be cheaper than the dealer, I will post results later.
