Question Cheapest place to purchase the PC Polisher?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to invest in the Porter Cable 7424 polisher. I found one site on the web that included the 6" counterweight and velcro backplate for $119.00. Anyone found it cheaper than this? What about Lowes, Home Depot or Sears? I have a $25 gift cert. for Sears, just haven't had the chance to scope things out. Let me know.

I got mine at Lowe's for right around $100. Go to www.lowes.com and create a personalized profile. Then on that page, check the box that says you will be moving in the next 6 months. Within a few days, a 10% off coupon will show up in your e-mail.

Ah, good questions ToyBox. Anyone care to elaborate? What is the difference between the two? $107, that's pretty cheap. I can't understand why people are paying $130-$140 on Ebay??? :pat:

Those links are nice but the only diff I see is that the 7336 has ball bearings and the 7336sp has ball AND roller bearings. Can someone actually explain the practical differences between the two? And is the sp version more expensive? And by looking at your links, again I don't see much of a difference between the 7424 and the 7336. What is the diff between these two?

From what I can see the only difference between the 7424 and 7336 is that the 7336 includes the velcro backing, sanding discs and counterweght. The 7424 just gives you the polishing pad. That's what I can see. Both are variable speed, 6" disc, and same RPM ranges.

I think that's it exactly Dutch Man - only diffs. are what's included with it. I believe the unit is the same.

Thanks Phoenix,

Now which one of these is the best for car polishing? Or which ones wouldn't be good for car polishing?

The ones that come with only sanding pads, you'd have to purchase a polishing pad/light counterweight. 7424 is your easiest bet for just polishing, but they will all work with the right attachments.

I personally own the 7336SP, got it at lowes for a good price. it's got a good counterweight that doesn't make it vibrate too horribly. i love it myself. probably too much.
