CD Player #34224 - stopped working

Anyone had issues with your CD player #34224 stop working all-of-a-sudden? When I insert CD the system does recognize something's in there because the antenna goes down and the CD display lights up...it just doesn't do anything and after some seconds it says "err" and CD pops out. Any fixes out there besides replacement??

I was on the road and it was working perfectly. Took a CD out and when I put the next CD in, it wouldn't work.

Thanks!
James

My stock radio (from 96). Would only play some burned CD's....would definitely not played any MP3 CD's.
You sure you're using store bought CD's? The older ones didn't know how to play some burned ones.

Yes, these are definitely store bought CDs -- the same CDs that were working earlier in the day...

Good. Just checking. My guess is that you need a new CD player. 12 years old

I guess that puts me in the market of trying to find a new-looking OEM CD player. Or, and I have not even looked into this yet but, maybe there's a non-FM transmitter iPod/iPhone adapter out there somewhere...

Well. See I got a sony xplod Cd player. And it does everything. It works with teh antenna, it plays Mp3s, WMA, and every other kind of file out there. Also I have the serial port adapter and module to play my Iphone and my i touch. Make sure you get the P130 not the 120 cause the 120 wont charge second gen ipod and the iphone. The 130 how ever will.

My CD Player in my 96 crapped out in 2003. Same thing...spits out a CD as soon as it goes in, regardless of source or type. Also, the backlights went out in 2000. It's a radio and tape player at this point.

one thing to maybe check into is the stock pioneer head units that come in the scions... people are practically giving them away, and some of the upgraded models have a 6 disc changer built in, ipod out (with special cable), sub woofer pre-outs, EQ control, color changing faces... really nice for a stock system...

I had the same problem in my 97 limited. Try to use a cd lens cleaner. Its a cd with little brushes on a certain track. it works like a charm. like you said it would just spit the cd back out before. these cds with the lens cleaner have even worked on my home stereo. it basically just cleans off al lthe dust and crud off the lens. cheapest way to go and easiest really. $10 bucks at an electronic store and maybe even your local drug store.

Yeah I agree. Those Scion head units are pretty sweet, especially being OEM.
