CBI hitch tire carrier, thoughts?

http://cbioffroadfab.com/v-web/galle...rockys_carrier

I have been entertaining this for a little while now, looks pretty strong, they have two models, one that can hold a 35" and one for a 37" I will only have a 33 on there but I need all the room I can get while im out in Colorado (back cargo area for my sleeping quarters) I want to get this and entertain it for a while until i get money for a bumper and carrier (wont be until Ive redone drivetrain anyways)

just thought id ask anybodys opinion.

I still dont have a hitch but I should be able to get one soon.

I have talked to Steve from CBI on the phone. He seems to be a real down to earth guy. He is custom building my tire carrier to fit on my Marlin tube bumper. From everything I have heard they make a quality product.

He'll make you a high lift carrier to go on it too if you ask.

249 for the 35" 279 i believe for the 37" rated one.

10% off right now he told me, so about 250 shipped with 10% and 275 shipped without.

Wait, so these actually swing away?

I was planning on buying one of those $75 ones that just attach to the hitch, and was just going to use it on baja/road/offroad trips... but, if this one will swing out, then it would be easier to just keep on.

I might have to get one of these since i have no place for a spare tire anymore.

looks like it swings down. dampers would be nice, but bulky i'd imagine.

i wouldnt run it 24/7. only on wheeling/camping and long road trips. dont run a spare in the city...

Yeah, on my last Baja trip, my dad's friend was telling me that they have to make one for the 4runners... Im like, I've never seen them!!

But for $275... that seems a little steep. But, very nice... $250 shipped you say? hmmm...

$75 that is stationary almost seems more appetizing.

CBI is out of Southern Idaho. He makes quality stuff! He includes and extra bolt to go in your receiver if you want to keep it from rattling around at all. They do swing down so you can still get into the back. I'm ordering mine just as soon as I get my Marlin mounted and take the measurements he requested.

I have one of the first carrier's that Steve sold through yotatech. it has 25k miles on it now and has never gotten wobbley, I also posted a review of it in the tech section almost 2 years ago. you can also see it in my rigs link located in my sig.

very good stuff, highly recommended, he also is big on the taco boards
feel free to pm me with any questions
Mike
