This question is going to frustrate you seasoned alignment people to death, but at what point are these cammed-out?

Driver's side, forward a-arm mount, forward-facing cam:

None of those are even close! Look at my pic. Those cams in my pic are at the max. Yours are all still in the middle.

This pic shows maxed cams. They are maxed out when the small area is all the way over. The small area is way past the hash marks.

your DS front cam is less than half way to the outside, and the rear is just a tad to the inside. this sweeps the camber the WRONG way. if maxed out, the front should be all the way to the inside and the rear all the way (or close to it) to the outside. this sweeps the lower ball joint way out in front of the upper ball joint. the contact patch of the tire then trails the axis of steering rotation more, allowing for more caster.

you are nowhere near maxed out on caster adjustment. not even close.

Ditto to Andy and Steve's comments.....not even close to maxed out (you can tell by the lobes).

Like I said, I'm sure that tech is a good guy but I don't think he's quite up to speed on this.
I'd take it to the dealer (or other competent shop) as I mentioned because there is no reason not to have it back in spec properly.

Thanks for the help and explanations. I will take it back to Big-O since I have a warranty on the alignment. If they won't take care of it I will drop it off at the dealership.

[and then get a refund from Big-O for non-performance on their warranty, if it comes to that]

good luck!

I took it back to Big-O and here are the results after attempt #2:

They did better, but the caster still isn't within spec.

So I pulled the skid plate to torque the cam bolts to 115 ft lbs (torque spec I think is 96 ft lbs) and found that the out-board cams were at probably 60 ft lbs and the inner ones were at 115 ft lbs already. Coincidence? I think not--comparing the pics below to the ones I posted earlier in this thread, it looks like the shop only adjusted the out-board cams.

Two of the cams in the lower part of the photo appear to be maxed. I'm guessing that had they adjusted the in-board ones too, there would have been more adjustment left in the outer ones. Any thoughts?

You need to take it some where else where there is hopefully someone who knows how to align it. I don't think your getting any where with the Big-O store your going to.

The forward cams are in a stock height position, it looks like they are trying to do everything with the rears. They just don't know how to align a truck other than stock.

they were able to get my caster dead on before i added the top out spacers, there was a ton of rake. (i had a friend do my alignment though, and he spent time getting it nearly perfect on a hunter machine)

Ditto, this is getting painful to watch. Take it somewhere else that knows how to align your truck properly since the lifetime warranty is basically worthless in this case if the guy doesn't know what he's doing. All you're going to do is waste your time going to Big-O and having this tech take stabs in the dark on your alignment.

I know it isn't perfect, but the truck does drive noticeably better than it did. My complaint was the steering felt loose, now it feels like it did when it was stock. I appreciate everyone's help and I learned more about alignments than I ever knew before, so nothing was lost. Next time I will remove the skid plate prior to taking it in so the techs have no excuse not to adjust the inner cams and I will be able to point out what needs to be done to get it right. Thanks again!
